About Vanda Scaravelli

Vanda Scaravelli studied with B.K.S. Iylengar and T.K.V. Desikachar. Through them she was introduced to yoga in her fifties and then developed her approach to asana in her own unhurried yoga practice. Her beautiful book, Awakening the Spine, is full of the majesty and power of nature and our ability to connect with this presence in us through breath and yoga asana. Although she eschewed the naming of the method after her, her students carry her unique teachings worldwide (see links to Esther Myers and Diane Long).
